Note 1 (NB not WELturn or WELmill)
Target audience: AlphaCAM users
Subject: Configuring AlphaEDIT for serial data communication with an Emco Compact 5 CNC Lathe or F1 Mill
If your computer has not been connected to an Emco machine before, you need to do the following before data communication is possible. The same configuration applies to both machines.
Load AlphaEDIT.
In the File Menu, select Configure - DNC/RS232 - Add .
In Name, key in Emco .
In the various boxes make the following entries:
Port: COM 1 (you can use COM 2 if you wish)
Baud Rate: 300
Parity: Even
Data Bits: 7
Stop Bits: 1
Make sure there is no "tick" in the Hardware and Software Handshake boxes.
Select the Codes menu and make the following entries:
Codes to send BEFORE SENDING program: 100(0)
Code to send AFTER SENDING program: 100(0)
When sending, end each line with: select CR+LF
Leave everything else blank.
Select the Format menu and make the following entries:
Send SPACES to machine: Tick
Send BLANK LINES to machine: Tick
The next four entries are left blank.
Send/Receive data in : ASCII
Click on OK and then on Close . Later, when you exit AlphaEDIT you will be asked "Save new configuration?" Answer Yes .
