Billet Diameter
The diameter of the billet needs to be decided when a part is drawn in AlphaCAM, other CADCAM software or when NC code is prepared manually. Tool paths are then planned accordingly.
When it comes to machining the part, the billet can be smaller than was planned. As long as there is still enough material for the part to be machined, WELturn will machine the part to the correct dimensions. The first cut(s) may be in fresh air.
The billet must never be of a larger diameter than planned. If it is, the first cut by the tool will be larger than intended. This is dangerous and may result in damage to you, the billet, the tool, the lathe or any expensive combination of these.
