This torus, pierced by 8 ellipses, was machined in one piece: it is not two halves glued together. One half was machined, the billet inverted and the machining repeated. A 3mm slot drill cut the ellipses and a 6mm ball ended cutter the torus profile. It was machined in urethane foam using 2.5D techniques. The diameter of the torus cross-section is 20mm. The design and code was created with AlphaCAM and used its ability to create profiled edges to parts.
