NC code creation from an HPGL file for WELmill, WinCAM, WinNC and EduCAM
WELplot reads HPGL commands from .plt files. When machining parameters have been set WELplot generates G-code data in various formats which can be used by a range of milling machine controllers. WELplot works best with HPGL plot files created by TechSoft UK Ltd's Design Tools - 2D Design.
Open a plt file and WELplot displays your design
Select the Tool and enter the cutting parameters for each colour in the design
Circles can be interpreted as holes to be drilled. Here we are drilling an 8mm hole with a depth of 10mm and using pecking.
The order in which the cuts are made is under user control. In this example the black path will be cut last.
When the machining data has been entered, the widths of the tool paths are shown using shades of grey to represent depth of cut.
The final stage is to choose from the four output formats that WELplot offers
Note: not all CAD software can export HPGL plot files and those that do may have a very limited implementation of the HPGL protocol. We recommend that you use TechSoft UK Ltd's Design Tools - 2D Design
